Privacy Policy
Omikuji Trail is a personal record app for saving Japanese omikuji fortune slips and viewing your fortune history over time.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Omikuji Trail collects, how it is used, and how users can manage or delete their data.
Information We Collect
Omikuji Trail may collect or store the following information:
- Authentication identifiers from Sign in with Apple and, if linked by the user, Google sign-in
- Omikuji records, including date, fortune rank, memo, and optional place information
- Photos voluntarily attached by the user
- Optional shrine or temple information, including name, address, latitude, and longitude
- App preferences such as theme color, background color, and font settings
- Device, advertising, and diagnostic information needed for ads, app quality, and troubleshooting
Photos and Fortune Detection
Photo attachment is optional. When a user selects or takes an omikuji photo, the app may process the image on the device to detect the Japanese fortune rank using text recognition. The detected result is used only to help fill in the record. Users can always choose the fortune rank manually.
Place Search
Place information is optional. The app may use Apple MapKit or related map services to search for shrines, temples, or other places. Search results depend on the map service and may not always be complete or accurate.
How We Use Information
Collected information is used to:
- Create, display, edit, delete, and export the user's omikuji records
- Generate fortune graphs, statistics, and share images
- Provide photo previews and optional place display
- Authenticate users and support logout or account deletion
- Display ads or ad placeholders
- Improve reliability, investigate bugs, and maintain app quality
Sharing Features
Users may choose to share generated images or text through X, Instagram, LINE, the iOS share sheet, or other services. Once content is shared outside the app, it is handled according to the destination service's terms and privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
Omikuji Trail uses or may use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication
- Cloud Firestore
- Firebase Storage
- Google AdMob
- Sign in with Apple
- Apple MapKit or related map services
Data Access and Deletion
Users can create, edit, delete, and export their own records in the app. Users can also delete their account from the Settings screen. Account deletion requests remove user records, photos, related user data, and authentication data where technically possible.
Some deletion processes may take time due to network conditions, third-party service processing, backups, legal obligations, or technical limitations.
Data Security
Omikuji Trail uses Firebase Authentication and security rules to help ensure that each user can access only their own data. However, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
If a minor uses the app, they should do so with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app, laws, or third-party services change. Important updates will be reflected on this page or in the app.
